Research Associate

Research Associate

Works under general supervision; reports to Junior Scientist, Scientist or Project Manager.

  • Proposes ideas and performs a variety of laboratory procedures using established methods and techniques under general guidance. May perform skills that include cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry and basic chemistry techniques including Northern, Southern and Western blots, cloning, tissue culture and protein chemistry.
  • Expected to design, coordinate and complete experiments, some moderately complex, accurately with little supervision.
  • Responsible for management and completion of specific lab duties or projects.
  • Maintain lab notebook and present results at Company meetings.
  • May assist in managing one or more Research Associate.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's or master's degree in related field.
  • Has working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on minimal instruction, limited experience and judgment to accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity, latitude and independence is expected. Accurate work and good communication is required.
  • Strong organization, record keeping, data analysis and computer skills required.
