Arbor Vita's research programs focus on diseases linked to the role of PDZ proteins in cell signaling pathways. Arbor Vita has selected four key therapeutic areas for internal drug development: oncology, neurology, virology and inflammation/autoimmunity. These were selected based on several criteria:

NA-1
AVC Dx-1
AVC Dx-2
  • The PDZ protein or PL plays a significant role in the disease
  • Open intellectual property environment (i.e., areas that have not been widely protected by existing patents allowing Arbor Vita to adequately protect its discoveries)
  • Clear clinical indication with significant unmet medical need
  • Ability to develop treatments with superior efficacy and side effect profiles in systems that are amenable to rapid clinical development.

Three product development programs are nearing clinical trials: NA-1 for treatment of stroke, AVC Dx-1 for diagnosis of cervical cancer and AVC Dx-2 for testing for avian influenza.
